What Happened in the Great War?

For a long time, Valentaland was ruled by the wizards living in the city of Nadensa, until it was destroyed and all wizards except Lord Frederick and Raegan perished in the Great War.

There’s some conjecture as to exactly what happened.

The most popular explanation points to the wrath of Vrenin – the God of Fire himself – who was so angered at the Fire-Walkers created by Edan, from the very depths of the Fire Element – Vrenin’s element; that in his fury, Vrenin destroyed not just the Fire-Walkers, but the city from which they came and all but two who lived there.

Ultimately, with the help of Lord Frederick and Raegan (yes, Raegan was not always the ambitious, power-hungry person he is now), Brindabeare defeated Candahorn and the Great War ended.

The Great War changed the land forever – the ruling city lay in ruins, only two wizards survived and Brindabeare became the governing city; establishing a lasting peace for more than three hundred years; until Raegan tried to seize power the night he killed Dane’s father – and more recently, when Raegan and his Black Knights tried to storm the castle.

Does the Great War have any relevance for Dane, Vanessa and Will?

With a rebel faction under the command of a powerful wizard, the possibility of future unrest remains.
